Construction Trades

Why it’s so important: Skills to make and do things are always in demand.

Mike Zurawski always wanted to work in the construction field and says that piping and welding was the best fit for him. He graduated from Griffith High School and completed his apprenticeship through the Local 597 Pipefitters Training Center.

“Pipefitting is a good career for young adults who are willing to learn a quality trade and build/service HVAC in their communities. Pipefitters work in all different types of environments from the industrial side, as in steel mills and refineries, to the commercial side that goes into schools and hospitals. They will learn the skills in a five-year apprenticeship program while working and providing a good living for their families.”
